This is a 1978 run model imported by Westside Model Co. and built by Katsumi in Japan. The box shows very little shelf wear. The original foam has been replaced with a 'pick 'n pluck' style insert. It's a streamlined version with a removable cab for easy access to the interior. The boiler weight is included but not installed. The springing of the drivers on the locomotive is set for the installed boiler weight, which is why the front looks high in the photos. Note that one cab awning handrail is missing and the other has come off the model. These parts come loose easily as the cab slides on and off the back of the boiler. Brand: Brass Westside Model Co. Using this model train is quite simple. First, make sure you have an appropriate analog DC power source. Connect the locomotive to the tracks and switch on the power. You'll notice it runs smoothly with very little noise. When you want to take a look inside the cab, just slide the removable cab off the back of the boiler. Be careful when handling it as the cab awning handrails can come off easily. As for maintenance, since the wheel wear is almost none, you don't need to worry too much about the wheels for now. But keep an eye on the motor and gearbox. If you hear any unusual noise, it might be a sign that it needs a check - up. The model has a bit of mild tarnish and staining from the red foam. You can use a soft cloth to gently clean the surface if you want. When it comes to storage, keep it in the original box with the bubble - wrap insert to protect it from damage. And remember, if you're shipping it back for a return, make sure to pack it well to avoid any new damage.
