The chassis and mechanism seem to be from a Balboa Southern Pacific 2-10-2 but have been modified. The boiler might have a similar origin but has been extensively modified and detailed. The Katsumi running gear is smooth, and the mechanism is very quiet for a model with an open frame motor. The tender could be scratch built or have roots in other MP models. It features 'dog house' details not seen on factory-built models. This one-of-a-kind model is in mint condition with amazing detail and shows little sign of use.
