This is an E. Suydam imported model built by Tsubomi in Japan, dating back to either 1959 or 1962. It comes with an original but incorrect E. Suydam box. The box label states it's a 16 - wheel drive, but in fact, it's an 8 - wheel drive model. The locomotive has a great custom paint job done by the previous owner. There's some wear and a slightly heavy application of paint in a few spots. It's an earlier 2 - pole version. Note that the model is wired for overhead wire operation and runs on left - rail power from the poles only. In its current configuration, it won't run on 2 - rail DC track, but it can be re - wired for that. Brand: Brass Suydam. Part Number: 1579. Condition: C - 6 Very Good. Wheel Wear: Minimal. Noise: 5 of 10 - Moderate motor/gearbox noise. It runs well. It has an Open Frame Motor (OFM). There's no backhead or interior detail. The custom paint by the owner is good, with some decal film and wear. Control: Analog – DC Only. No lighting. It has cast traction style couplers. It comes in an incorrect but original E. Suydam box with some packing materials. Free Domestic USA Shipping for all purchases over $199! Flat shipping rates are based on item value or weight. Using this locomotive is straightforward. First, if you want to run it on the current overhead wire setup, make sure it's properly connected to the left - rail power source. If you want to use it on a 2 - rail DC track, you'll need to re - wire it. Just be careful when handling the wires to avoid any damage. When it comes to maintenance, keep an eye on the wheels. Since the wheel wear is minimal now, a simple cleaning every once in a while should keep them in good shape. Wipe off any dust or debris that might accumulate on the locomotive. Check the motor and gearbox regularly. If the noise level seems to increase over time, it might be a sign that something needs attention. As for the paint job, try to avoid scratching it. When storing the locomotive, use the provided box and packing materials to protect it from any bumps or knocks. Remember, if you're shipping it back for a return, make sure to pack it well to avoid any new damages.
